The British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) is delighted to announce the shortlist for the new Echocardiographer of the Year award, in partnership with the Advancing Healthcare Awards (AHA).

The Echocardiographer of the Year award recognises a healthcare scientist who has made an outstanding contribution to echocardiography. This award celebrates those who champion high-quality, standardised practice, improve patient pathways and outcomes, and support the development of colleagues at every stage of their careers.

The shortlisted nominees are:

  • Dr Dario Freitas, Lead Clinical Scientist for Adult Congenital Heart Disease, Guy's and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust
  • Mr Adam Langley, Chief Cardiac Physiologist, Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust
  • Ms Bex Parsons-Simmonds, Lead Critical Care Echo Specialist, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board

Professor Dan Augustine, President of the Society said, “We were blown away by the number of nominations received for this award – it’s clear that there is exceptional dedication and innovation present across our profession. We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of these three finalists and the vital role they play within the healthcare system.”

The winner of the award will be announced at the Advancing Healthcare Awards in June.
