Calling echo leads: New cardiac myosin-inhibitor echo database project launched

Published 30/03/2026

The British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) is inviting colleagues from echocardiography and cardiology services across the UK to contribute to the development of a new national cardiac myosin inhibitor (CMI) echo database.

This initiative aims to collate pseudonymised echocardiographic data to support future observational research. By participating, centres will help advance the clinical understanding of imaging patterns in patients receiving CMI therapy, including treatments such as Mavacamten.

CMIs represent a significant development in the management of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and establishing a robust database is essential to evaluate the feasibility, readiness, and structural requirements of a national research project.

The data gathered will be used to shape the framework of this initiative, ensuring that the UK remains at the forefront of imaging research and patient monitoring in this evolving field.

We’ve designed a short survey to gather contact details and provide an overview of current CMI activity within your centre. We encourage all relevant leads to register their interest to help build a comprehensive national picture of current practice.

The survey is open until Friday 22 May 2026.
