Abstract submissions for BSEcho 2026 and the Investigator of the Year Award 2026 have been extended until Sunday 7 June 2026.
A core purpose of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) is to support and enable high-quality original research. This research informs our guidance, shapes our priorities and underpins the standards we set. It is how we ensure that echocardiography continues to progress in a way that is clinically relevant and scientifically robust.
The expertise and commitment of our multi-disciplinary teams drive this work. Their research informs policy, questions and refines established practice where necessary, and sustains a culture of rigorous scientific investigation. It contributes to better working conditions for our practitioners and, most importantly, higher standards of patient care.
We are passionate about celebrating the work of our members and creating opportunities for them to develop, contribute and lead within the field.
This is why we believe it is so important to recognise impactful new research.
We’re delighted to open abstract submissions for Investigator of the Year 2026 – and provide a platform to showcase your achievements.
Clinicians and researchers from all backgrounds are invited to submit abstracts that describe:
- Research projects
- Interesting audit processes
- Novel working practice or
- Innovative service improvement programmes
Dr Maria Paton, Chair of Research and Audit said, “This award recognises not only scientific excellence, but the dedication and hard work required to ask better questions, and to answer them in ways that genuinely advance patient care. I’m particularly excited to see how this year’s research and audit submissions are shaping practice and driving echocardiography forward.”
Dr Kelly Victor and Dr Lynne Williams, Co-Chairs of Education said, “Clinical research facilitates continued improvements in the safety and effectiveness of new diagnostic processes and pathways which supports advancements in prevention, management and treatment of disease, and ultimately leads to best practice. It maintains echocardiography’s relevance on the scientific and medical stage. This award provides an opportunity to celebrate research successes in this important area.”
