New poster on clinical indications and triage of echocardiography for out-patient requests

Published 29/07/2024

The British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and partners are delighted to share updated resources designed to assist with triaging of echo referrals for out-patient requests (excluding the follow-up of established valve disease).

The new guidance includes the following changes:

  • New recommendations on triage in heart failure
  • Updated guidance on triage for pre operative echocardiography

The guidance has been developed in partnership with the following organisations:

  • British Cardiovascular Intervention Society
  • British Cardiovascular Society
  • British Society for Heart Failure
  • GIRFT for Preoperative Assessment
  • Primary Care Cardiovascular Society

Professor Dan Augustine, President of the BSE, said “This update of the triage guidance has been a big project, bringing together eleven national societies to offer contemporary, specialist advice on echocardiography triage. It’s important that we have had input from primary and secondary care and I’d like to thank all of the society representatives for their help.”
