The British Society of Echocardiography has published a new triage audit template to assist echocardiographers with documenting the effects of triage and in particular the Society's triage guidance, published in 2021.
The template allows echocardiographers to capture data on four distinct areas:
- Patients waiting
- Outpatient referrals
- Capacity
- Professional experience
Dr Maria Paton, Chair of the Research and Audit Sub-Committee, said "It has never been more important to understand how effectively our echocardiography services are being delivered, and how we as your Society can help you to achieve the best services for our patients. Part of our recent work has been to provide guidance for effective echocardiography triage in the hope that collectively, we can provide the right test for the right patient at the right time."

With that in mind we have created a triage audit template to help you to document the effects of triage in your department. We hope this is a useful tool for you on a local level, but we also want to hear from you, as our members. We would be very grateful for any findings using the template to be shared with us, so we can be armed with information about how the Society can best support you."
