Stress accreditation is a process that checks competency and safety of echocardiographers undertaking this modality. Following successful completion, accreditation is valid for five years.
The main focus of the exam is to test a good working level of knowledge of the assessment of ischaemic heart disease but there is a small proportion of questions on other indications for stress for e.g. structural heart disease.
The two part examination comprises a written paper and a practical assessment. The written paper has 100 true/false questions and also 15 video cases. The practical assessment includes the review of a 200 case logbook, a viva session to discuss five video cases and a demonstration of competence in performing an exercise echo.
